The Access to Nutrition Initiative is now looking for a full-time Donor Manager to join a dynamic team in Utrecht, the Netherlands.

As Donor Manager, you work in a fast-changing and international environment. You are accountable for building a pipeline of powerful concept notes and project proposals; actively scanning the funding environment, identifying opportunities and developing relationships with potential fundraising prospects; and managing donor accounts and donor reporting processes.


About the Access to Nutrition Initiative

The Access to Nutrition Initiative (ATNI) is a Dutch not-for-profit organization based in Utrecht, The Netherlands, that evaluates the world’s largest food and beverage manufacturers’ policies and performance related to the world’s most pressing nutrition challenges: obesity and undernutrition. ATNI provides companies with a tool to benchmark performance on nutrition against others in their sector and provides stakeholders with impartial objective, consistent, in-depth information on companies’ contributions to improving nutrition. The aim of ATNI is to encourage companies both to increase the number of healthier products and access to them, and also to responsibly exercise their influence on consumers’ choice and behavior.

Results are published in bi-annual Global and single country Indexes that are used both by the rated companies and non-profit stakeholders, such as NGOs, policymakers and investors. ATNI works closely with several of these organizations including Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition (GAIN), the Global Nutrition Report, UNICEF, the World Health Organization (WHO) and over 60 global investment companies.


Job responsibilities

As Donor Manager, you will report to the Senior Program Manager and be part of the program team. You will also closely with the management team and Board, and will be responsible for the following:

Institutional Fundraising – Building donor intelligence

  • Building on the relationships already developed, to create and actively cultivate a portfolio of fundraising prospects to deliver income target;
  • Supporting the Board and management team in key networking and profile raising events and conferences that could support further fundraising efforts;
  • Supporting the Board and management to monitor delivery of income targets in line with ATNI’s strategy;
  • Developing management tools such as grant trackers and donor pipeline tracker;
  • Researching, identifying, analyzing, profiling, and monitoring potential new donors globally, including governments, foundations and philanthropists with an interest in nutrition;
  • Mapping relationships with current donors and potential donors to identify potential avenues for future funding and partnership opportunities;


Grant Management

  • Maintaining on-schedule reporting process while meeting specific donor reporting needs;
  • Strengthening reporting processes;
  • Writing, revising, copy editing and formatting results-based donor reports, ensuring high standard, timely reports for approval and submission to donors, and strengthening the organization’s relationship with donors.



Your pro-active way of working, by means of which you are a real team player, makes you a truly valued colleague. Besides this, you have a hands-on mentality and are flexible.

You also have:

  • A graduate degree level of education or equivalent professional qualification within a relevant discipline (preferably linked to international development and/or corporate social responsibility);
  • Knowledge and track record in a range of income sources and fundraising methodologies, including in a global context;
  • Significant experience in foundations, institutions and trusts in relation to international development;
  • An understanding of philanthropy in emerging economies as well as the US and Europe – note that ATNI is currently being funded by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the UK Department for International Development (DFID) and the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation;
  • A significant experience of effective communication at all levels across an organization and a wider audience, along with a good knowledge of enhancing external communications;
  • Proven budget, financial and donor reporting management experience;
  • Experience of working in a multicultural setting, ideally in more than one, demonstrating understanding of working internationally;
  • Fluency in English;
  • Having a programmatic background in food, nutrition, health and corporate sector engagement towards improvement in these areas will be appreciated.
